چکیده

Automated negotiation by autonomous agents has become increasingly important since the advent of e-marketplace. In this study, automated negotiation is viewed as a search process in which negotiators jointly search for a mutually acceptable contract in a multidimensional space formed by negotiable issues. This search is formulated as a multiple-objective decision making problem and is solved through an iterative process of generating offers by fuzzy inference systems. These fuzzy inference systems serve as a search heuristic and are formulated based on the strategy of issue trade-offs. Five experiments are conducted to evaluate the performance of the proposed automated negotiation algorithm. D 2005 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Using similarity criteria to make issue trade-offs in automated negotiations

Automated negotiation is a key form of interaction in systems that are composed of multiple autonomous agents. The aim of such interactions is to reach agreements through an iterative process of making offers. The content of such proposals are, however, a function of the strategy of the agents. Here we present a strategy called the trade-off strategy where multiple negotiation decision variable...

On the Use of Fuzzy Logic in Electronic Marketplaces

Today, there is a large number of product providers in the Web. Electronic Marketplaces (EMs) enable entities to negotiate and trade products. Usually, intelligent agents assume the responsibility of representing buyers or sellers in EMs. However, uncertainty about the characteristics and intentions of the negotiating entities is present in these scenarios. Fuzzy Logic (FL) theory presents a lo...

Special issue on knowledge integration and management in autonomous systems

It is important that software that operates over modern computer infrastructure adopt accordingly, to provide highly customised services to everyone who needs them. New requirements have to be met, for example the systems must still evolve and integrate many heterogeneous systems. Furthermore, the systems must cope with changes in network topology, node failures, collaborations and cooperation ...

A negotiation model for autonomous computational agents: Formal description and empirical evaluation

Autonomous agents are being used in an increasing number of applications. The agents operate in complex environments and, over time, conflicts inevitably occur among them. Negotiation is the predominant process for resolving conflicts. This paper presents a generic negotiation model for autonomous agents that handles multi-party, multi-issue and single or repeated rounds. The model is based on ...

A fuzzy constraint based model for bilateral, multi-issue negotiations in semi-competitive environments

This paper develops a fuzzy constraint based model for bilateral multi-issue negotiation in trading environments. In particular, we are concerned with the principled negotiation approach in which agents seek to strike a fair deal for both parties, but which, nevertheless, maximises their own payoff. Thus, there are elements of both competition and cooperation in the negotiation (hence semicompe...
